Gin wheel at N.G.R. SJ 2731 2186

Gin wheel, now disused. Probably mid-to late C19. Roughly coursed
and dressed limestone rubble side walls with cylindrical drum to centre.
Drum has wooden boarding to rim and cast-iron spokes. Chain wrapped
around centre is fixed to trolley on short remaining section of track.
Formerly associated with the stone quarries on nearby Llanymynech Hill, to
which it was connected by an inclined plane. Salop County Sites and
Monuments Record; PRN 501.
