10.11.55 Nos 23 (Martin) and 25 (the Sweet Shop) (previously listed as Premises 8 yards east of Crown Hotel and Premises 16 yards east of Crown Hotel) GV II
Two houses, incorporating shops. Late C18. Ashlar. Plain tile roof. Coped centre and east gable. Stone ridge and east end stacks. Two storeys and attics. Each house 4 window range. Quoins. Bracketted cornice and parapet. No 23 has central cambered-headed carriage entrance with double keystone, now with C20 shop front, flanked by round-headed doorways (now windows) in eared architraves with double keystones. No 25 has similar round-headed entrance to right with panelled door and fanlight with glazing bars, and late C19 shop window to left. First floor of both houses has 6/6 sash windows in raised architraves with keystones of various designs. Each house has 2 pedimented dormers.
