Berllandeg Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. C17, remodelled mid-C18 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with red brick infill and red brick on high chamfered rubblestone plinth; slate roofs, hipped to front.
U-plan comprising main range with two apparently earlier gabled ranges to rear, that on right with C18 two-storey brick outshut to right. Two storeys with floor band carried round to sides.
Three window front; glazing bar sashes (16-paned to ground floor and to centre on first floor) replacing earlier infilled windows, traces of which remain. Central entrance; recessed C20 pine door with rectangular overlight. Large stepped external end stack to right with paired and rebated shafts, rear flush with outshut of gabled wing; integral brick end stack to left. Wedge-shaped datestone directly below eaves to centre illegible at time of resurvey (May 1986). Rear gables rendered to attics with projecting single-purlin ends, left (right, when viewed from front) with fragmentary timber frame (vertical posts) to first floor and right with red brick over rubblestone. Brick outshut between. Left gabled range has infilled segmental-headed doorway to outshut with late C20 casement inserted and rubblestone and brick lean-to against outshut to rear.
Interior: inspection not possible at time of resurvey (May 1986) but likely to be of interest.
