Details

HOVERINGHAM MAIN STREET SK 64 NE (east side) 4/74 Southfield Lodge II House. c.1830 with mid C20 extension. Painted brick. Slate roof. 2 left external and single ridge red brick stacks. Set on a chamfered plinth, being rendered between plinth and sills. 2 storeys, 3 bays, the single central bay being 3 storeys plus attic and slightly projecting with a pyramidal roof forming a turret. The outer single bays are gabled and have decorative bargeboards. Central doorway with glazed and panelled door. Either side are single sashes with 3 sashes above, the central single sash being smaller. Above, in the central bay is a single rectangular recessed panel containing a single small pointed arched opening with single casement. Above is a single gabled dormer with decorative bargeboard and single trefoil. Projecting from above the ground floor openings and 3 steps up is a lean-to glass, wood, brick and wrought iron verandah with tiled floor and decorative brackets. To the right, set back, is the 2 storey, 2 bay painted brick with hipped slate roof extension. Set on a chamfered plinth. 2 sashes. Above are 2 smaller sashes which break into the eaves, being gabled over with plain bargeboards. All sashes have decorative glazing bars and are under pointed arches.
