GV II
Inn. Early C19. Ashlar sandstone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3-bay main range with 1-bay subsidiary range to right. Main range: quoins. Central 6-panel door below overlight with decorative glazing bars in moulded stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars, those to first floor of 9 panes unequally hung, all with ashlar sills and lintels. On first floor between bays 2 and 3, 2 small stone corbels supporting old painted wooden inn sign. Shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, ashlar end stacks. Subsidiary range set back. Quoins to right. In left corner, part-glazed 6-panel door. Ashlar sills and lintel. On ground floor, 16-pane sash window; on first floor, unequally-hung 12-pane sash window. Shaped kneeler, ashlar coping, ashlar end stack to right. The blue lion is taken from the armorial device of the Bruce family, to which belonged the Earl of Ailesbury.
