4/6 Peachley House

II

Shown on OS map as Peachley Farm. Farmhouse, now house. C16 with C19 alterations and late C20 remodelling. Part timber-framed with brick infill and brick refacing and replacement walling; tiled roofs; large external brick stacks to rear elevations and small external brick stack at front. Four framed bays, the west end bay rebuilt in brick in C19; through-passage situated between east end and adjoining bay. Two storeys; the construction of the wall-frame in the east bay would imply the gable end was once jettied. Square, small panelled framing exposed at first floor level, rear north elevation incor- porates a large swept brace in wall-frame; there is an original first floor wood mullioned window in the rear elevation. Irregular fenestration; front elevation has 3 ground floor casements, 2 first floor casements and doorway in bay adjoining rebuilt bay with planked door and lean-to porch on timber uprights. Interior: central bays show evidence of inserted floor as roof timbers blackened. C19 outshut to rear left 2 bays. Structure undergoing reconstruction at time of survey (June 1984).
