Details
ELLERTON ABBEY RICHMOND ROAD SE 09 NE (North side off) 17/13 Ellerton Abbey (Formerly listed as Ellerton Abbey (house)) 7.12.66 - II House. c1830. Fore Erle-Drax family. Roughcast rubble with sandstone dressings, stone slate roof. Regency style. In plan 3 sides of a courtyard, formed by main house and rear projecting service wings. Main elevation 1:2:1 bays, the end single bays treated as short wings, projecting slightly and having roofs hipped on that axis. Central portico with 2 Doric columns in antis. Sashes with glazing bars. Quoins, sill band to first floor, 2 ridge stacks between bays 1 and 2, 3 and 4. Rear has verandah with cast-iron columns, also round-headed staircase window. Inner elevations to courtyard have lead rainwater goods. Interior: open-well staircase with cast-iron balusters; shutters and cornices to main rooms.
