Lodge, now house. Mid C18, with C19 extensions and C20 alterations and extensions. Brick with ashlar dressings, Westmorland slate roofs.

Original central two storey, one bay lodge, with added flanking screen walls, behind which have been added one and two storey extensions. Central lodge: ashlar plinth; two storey recessed round-arched panel, now rendered, with on each floor the surround of a double-chamfered two-light mullion window, with sill band within panel on ground floor, and with sill band continuing outside panel on first floor; ashlar modillion cornice; hipped roof with central stack. To right, screen wall with two-light casement window; ashlar coping sweeping down to narrow gateway and terminating in square brick pier. To left, screen wall with surround of double-chamfered two-light mullion window, and ashlar coping. Right return: blind oculus on first floor. C20 rear extension to left. Forms symmetrical composition with the north lodge (qv).
