ROCHFORD CP ROCHFORD SO 66 NW 3/35 Town Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Early C17 with late C19 alterations; restored late C20. Timber-framed with rendered infill on brick base with brick replacement walling and plain tiled roofs. Hall and cross-wing plan. Hall part of one framed bay aligned east/west with cross-wing of two framed bays at west end. External chimney with brick stack to rear south side of hall and also rebuilt external chimney to rear'south gable end of cross-wing. Single storey and attic. Framing: three rows of square panels from sill to wall-plate, collar and tie-beam trusses with struts. Windows are all C20 casements. North front elevation: hall part has two square ground floor windows and a skylight. Gable end of cross-wing to right has two ground floor square windows and an attic light. Main entrance on west side of cross-wing and has a C20 gabled canopy and C20 door. Lean-to outshut with catslide roof to rear of hall. Interior retains its winder staircase in cross-wing.
