NEWBIGGIN VILLAGE STREET SD 9885-9985 (north side) 14/112 Eastburn Farmhouse and Eastburn Cottage (formerly listed as 25.3.69 Eastburn Farmhouse) GV II

Farmhouse and cottage. Late C17 - early C18. Coursed rubble, Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 first-floor windows, the cottage forming 1 bay at extreme right. Between third and fourth windows, 4-panel door in ashlar keyed architrave with keyed frieze and cyma recta cornice. To extreme right, part-glazed 4-panel door to cottage. Ground-floor windows, from left: C20 4-pane casement; three 3-light double-chamfered mullion. First- floor windows, from left: small 4-pane sash; 4-pane sash; 2-light double- chamfered mullion; two 3-light double-chamfered mullion. Stacks at ends and to right of door. Former barn continuing same range to left, now a holiday cottage, not of special interest. C20 extensions to right of and behind Eastburn Cottage, not of special interest. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report No 177.
