Cross about 30 yards
south-west of
Well Cottage
GV II
Remains of market cross. Probably late C14. Sandstone ashlar. Square
base with chamfered upper section forming octagonal upper face. From the
centre projects the stump of the broken cross shaft. The base is set on
an old millstone. Sir Walter Devereux was granted a licence for a market
in Bodenham in 1379. (RCHM Herefs II, p 14, item 2; BoE, p 77).
