HIMBLETON CP SHELL SO 95 NE 7/172 Barn about 35 yards north-west of Shell Manor
GV II Barn. c1600. Timber-framed on lias limestone rubble plinth, weatherboarded with plain tiled roof. Three framed bays aligned north-east/south-west; central wagon bay has opposed double doors. Interior: two rows of close-set studding from sill to wall-plate, swept braces across lower and upper corners; collar and tie-beam roof trusses, south-west end truss has close-set studs above and below collar, north-east end truss has three struts to collar and central strut above; intermediate trusses are arch-braced and have a central strut to collar; some swept and some straight wind-braces. Owl holes in gable ends.
