Details
BRILLEY CP - SO 24 NW 4/20 Tan House Farmhouse 19.8.53 GV II Farmhouse. C17, altered mid-C19. Roughcast timber-frame with some rubble walling; stone tiled roof laid in diminishing courses with large square rubble ridge stack. Probably four framed bays aligned roughly north/south including a through-passage bay and having the chimney backing onto the passage; also external rubble chimney at north end. Two storeys. Framing: not visible externally'except at north end where main wall posts and some subsidiary timbers are exposed. East front elevation: windows are C19 case- ments. There is a 3-light window, a 4-light window and a square window on the ground floor and three first floor 3-light windows. Main entrance has a flat canopy on shaped brackets and a ledged and battened door. There is a rubble single-storey service wing at the south gable end and also a rubble lean-to outshut at rear. Interior is recorded to have a good ceiling in the principal room divided into panels by original moulded beams. (RCHM, III, p 25, item 29).
