GV II
Former Police Station now library. Dated 1858. Orange brick with ashlar dressings; slate roof; brick ridge stack. Main range with low set-back wing to right and low blind projecting wing to left. Main range: One storey and attic with dentilled eaves cornice; 1:1:1 bays, glazing bar sashes with horns, shaped architraves, bracketed sills and fluted keys, central attic window with fluted key and semi-circular arch springing from an impost-band; paired pilasters to each corner and single pilasters to each corner of the central pedimented porch, central partly glazed 2-leaf door with cornice hood. Right hand wing: One storey with dentilled eaves cornice to hipped roof; 2 bays, 2-light flat face mullioned window to left with bracket sill, containing plate glass sashes; 6-panelled door to right with overlight, shaped surround and fluted key. Left hand wing: One storey with corner pilasters and hipped roof. The Library is situated opposite Wyre Hall (q.v.) V.C.H. Vol. 5
