7/23 Hill House (formerly 16.1O.85 listed under Saracen's Hill)
- II
House. Late C17, altered C20. Timber frame with no cladding at time of inspection. 2 bays. 1 storey and attic. Frame incorporating some reused earlier timber has straight and cranked arched braces halved outside studding of small scantling without a mid-rail, jowled posts with straight braces to central tie beam, a chamfered axial binding beam in left bay, collars clasp purlins with coupled rafters all of small scantling. Original cross entry was to left of centre retaining a boarded door to rear. Diamond mullioned windows, 5 lights on upper storey to front and 4 and 5-lights on ground floor to rear, a 2-light casement dormer window remains in position. Originally there was an external stack on left end. An early addition at right angles to left in course of rebuilding.
