Details
HOXNE LOW STREET (east side) TM 17 NE 7/114 The Old Bakery & Lea Cottage GV II Originally one house, now 2 houses and a shop. Mid C17 with mid C19 alterations. Timber framed, almost entirely encased in C19 red brick, only a small section to the rear still plastered. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3-cell form. 4 windows, C19 2-light small-paned casements under cambered brick arches. To the centre, a small late C19 shopfront: single-pane shop window, half-glazed 4-panel door; frieze and boxed-out cornice supported on console brackets. Lea Cottage has a C19. 4-panel door. Internal stack, the plain oblong shaft probably original. Internally, nearly all the structure is concealed. The roof has 2 rows of stepped butt purlins.
