South Green Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, latterly 2 dwellings. Late C16 with C19 addition to right. Roof
over main range replaced by one of shallower pitch, probably in C19. Timber
framed with ashlar-lined plasterwork. Pantiled roof. C19 addition partly in
colourwashed brick, with a slightly lower eaves. 2 storeys. 3-cell lobby
entry type. C19 casement windows and 2 originals with diamond mullions (one
with mullions renewed); 2 further original windows to rear. C20 boarded door.
A second boarded door in C19 addition. Internal stack with rendered shaft.
Small later stack between the 2 sections. Inside, much of the frame is
exposed, except at the service end where all the timbers are concealed. The
studding in the hall shows evidence for large windows. Chamfered-joist
ceiling in parlour. Original newel stair.
