Former farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. Early C17; extended to north in mid C20.
Timber framed and rendered; to east, some old stippled plaster with quoining
around windows. The east side of the wing is faced in C19 red brick to eaves
level. Clay plaintiled roof; concrete tiles to mid C20 addition. 3-cell
form, the parlour cell to south taking the form of a cross-wing. 2 storeys
and attic. Cross-wing has projecting gables, the wallplate ends supported on
well-preserved carved console brackets. Various casement windows, mostly C20
and without glazing bars. C20 doors. To east, a gabled dormer with original
moulded and carved lintol. Internal stack has original sawtooth shaft, the
base with an empty inset panel. Interior. Cyma-moulded ceiling beam in hall
with nicked stop-chamfers. A beam of deep narrow section at the junction of
hall and cross-passage probably once carried a screen. Chamfered joists set
flat in hall, cross-passage and service end. Good first floor studding.
Parlour cell and adjacent section of hall not examined.
