STANTON ST. JOHN MIDDLE ROAD SP5ONE (West side) 5/165 Village Stores and Post Office and adjoining house

Shop and dwelling. Early C18, altered C19. Limestone rubble and ashlar with some timber lintels; concrete plain-tile and Welsh-slate roofs with brick gable stack. Single range. 2 storeys. 3-window ashlar front of house, to left, has a plinth with chamfered offset. Entrance, to right of centre, has a low plank door and C20 canopy. Tall casement windows, at ground and first floors in right bay, and blocked window above door have stone flat arches. 12-pane sashes in left bay are C19 insertions replacing pairs of windows. 4-window rubble shop range, to right, preceded house but was given a slate-roofed upper storey in C19. Front has central door with 2-light casement to right and C20 shop window to left; 2-light casements at first floor. Interior not inspected.
