2/112 Hawthorn Farm House -

House. c1600, extended and raised late C17 or early C18, altered C19 and C20. Timber frame, extended in clay lump, all cement rendered. Steeply pitched pantiled roof. Originally 2 cells with a cross passage, probably always 2 storeys, stack and parlour bays added to right to form a 3 cell lobby entry plan. Entrance to right of centre in a C19 red brick gabled porch, corner piers with oversailing finials. Cross passage entrance to left of centre blocked. 2-light 6 and 8 pane part opening flush metal frame casements. Rebuilt ridge stack to right between hall and parlour. Roof raised over early bays to a uniform height. Right gable end exposed plates and purlins. Left gable end C20 lean-to, attic casement. To rear plastered and weatherboarded lean-to additions. Interior: cross passage survives with stop chamfered jambs and 3 boarded doors to service bay and stairs, 5-light diamond mullioned openings over service bay, stop chamfered cross axial binding beam in hall, stop chamfered joists in parlour, close studding with curved braces in walling, clasped purlin roof.
