Details

GREAT WISHFORD SOUTH STREET SU 03 NE (west side) 3/22 The Old Post Office and The Old Bakehouse GV II House and post office. Mid C17, altered early C19. Banded flint and stone, brick raised eaves, Welsh slate roof, brick stacks. 'L'-plan. Two-storey, 3-windowed; sashes. Six-panelled door to left of centre, 12-pane flush sash to left, C19 projecting shop front to right with 3 arched lights either side of double half- glazed doors. First floor has three 12-pane flush sashes, the left two in raised eaves. Left return has 12-pane sash to ground floor, 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements with hoodmould to first floor, coped verge. Attached to rear is 2-storey C19 wing with 12-pane sashes, blocked doorway, hipped slate roof. Rear has C20 casements and flat-roofed extensions. To right is early C19 cob range with steel casements, deep eaves to Welsh slate roof, right return has planked door and casements, loft door to first floor. Interior not inspected.
