2/28 Fen Farmhouse - - II
House, C16 in two stages. 3 cell plan with lobby-entrance. One storey and attics. Timber-framed and plastered in roughcast panels. Thatched roof, half-hipped to left and fully hipped to right. An axial chimney of red brick, the shaft rebuilt C19, and an C18 external chimney to left. C19 eyebrow casement dormers. 3-light C18 or early C19 casements with metal windows. C20 gabled plaintiled entrance porch with boarded and battened door. An early C16 core with 2 small cells has major alterations, including evidence for an inserted upper floor. Fragments of an apparent timber-framed chimney. A further bay was added to the left hand end in late C16; this work has tension- braced studwork and base-crucks supporting the half-hip. Coupled-rafter roof in 2 phases. A C18 or C19 lean-to extension to right, and a single-storey mid C20 pantiled extension to rear.
