Details
SU 16 NW WEST OVERTON VILLAGE CENTRE (north side) 9/152 Yew Tree Cottage 21.2.79 II House. C17 and early C19. Timber framed with colourwashed brick noggings. Stone, and extended in brick. Thatched roof. Original building on left, single storey and attic, 3 bays comprising 2 framed bays with gable stack on right forming a third stone bay, a living hall and two inner rooms in left bay. Building extended beyond stack by further 2-storey 3 bays in late C18-early C19. Framing 3 panels high on stone sill, with wavy corner braces. Entrance lateral to centre hall bay, a 6 panel beaded door with simple canopy. Canted bay to right, and patterned leadwork to parlour window on left. The extension is symmetrical about a central half-glazed door with thatched canopy and flanking canted bay windows. First floor 9-pane single hung sashes. Rear wing on right has hipped roof. Stack of ribbed C17 brick, rebuilt at top.
