LITTLE STONHAM CHURCH LANE TM 16 SW 2/126 Little Stonham Hall(formerly - 9-12-55 listed as Hall Farmhouse) GV II

Farmhouse, formerly manor house. Early C17 core; major remodelling of early C19. 2 storeys. Central slightly set-forward range of 3 windows; wide flanking blocks of 1 window each. Timber-framed and plastered. Hipped concrete plaintiled roof with axial chimneys of red brick. Moulded wooden eaves cornice with paired modillions and a low parapet; open pediment above the centre range, similarly moulded; in the tympanum is a lunette window with radiating bars. Mainly C19 small-pane sashes. Flanking the entrance are pairs of French doors with cornice and fluted pilasters. Early C19 entrance doorway: a pair of 3-panelled doors with fielded panels and reveals, fluted pilasters, an open modillioned pediment and a semi-circular fanlight with curved glazing bars. At the right-hand end are some C17 ovolo-moulded beams; other areas have a little unmoulded framing, suggesting that the parlour cell of the C17 house was at the right hand end. Early C19 additions at the rear, resulting in a double-pile plan; these include the staircase with large dome- light above. Partial associated mediaeval moat.
