4/13 Barrack Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. Late C16 with rear wing of c.1983. Timber framed with C19 red brick casing to the facade and right hand gable end, the remainder plastered; pantiled roof. 2 storeys. 3 cell plan. Mid C20 casement windows, with a ground floor curved bay; entrance door in modern addition; internal stack. Interior with exposed framing and original newel stairs; original 4-light diamond mullion window in rear wall at first floor level. One ground floor wall post has a moulded head with a course of scalloped carving beneath (cf. Macheath and Fordley Hall, both in Middleton).
