Details
HALL STREET 1. 5377 (West Side) Long Melford Brook House TL 8645 21/525 10.1.53. II* GV
2. A C16 and C17 timber-framed and plastered house with later alterations. There are cross wings on the north and south ends, with jettied upper storeys on exposed joists and shaped brackets. The timber-framing is exposed on the front, with modern brick nogging. 2 storeys. 3 window range, 3-light double-hung sashes with glazing bars, fluted mullions and cornices. A large gabled porch projects on the front (said to have been brought from the West Midlands and added to the front). It has carved bargeboards, and corner posts with carved figures of a man and woman. On the north and south sides there are 5 Tudor arched side lights. The porch bears the date 1610. The house is considerably altered at the rear.
