HUNTINGFIELD
Town Pightle Cottage & Old School House
II
Originally a house, part later adapted as a school; now two private dwellings. C16-C17 with mid and late C19 additions in Tudor style. The main range is at right angles to the road: timber framed, all but the rear portion thatched; this was extended forward in mid C19 in red brick, now colourwashed: the gable end has a large window with two tiers of seven trefoil-headed lights and a hood mould over, a small two-light window above in matching style and ornamental bargeboards. To the left hand side of the main range is a lean-to extension with mid-C20 entrance door and set further back a late C19 addition with exposed framing, windows with trefoil-headed lights and ornamental bargeboards. To the right hand side is a one and a half storey timber framed and pantiled wing which, together with the rear portion of the main range, forms Town Pightle Cottage: various casement windows, one gabled dormer to front, two boarded doors to rear. Town Pightle Cottage is much less altered and has good exposed timbering inside.
