Cherry Tree Public House

II

Public house. Mid C19 facade, C17 core. Timber framed core, entirely cased
in colourwashed brick except the left hand gable end which is tarred brick.
Slated roof. 2 storeys. 2 cell form. Symmetrical facade: 3 windows, 2-
light and 3-light casements with shallow triangular pointed arches; geometric
glazing bars in the form of elongated hexagons in the local estate style;
brick hood moulds. Lobby entrance with colourwashed brick gabled porch and
boarded and battened door with a very shallow 3-centre arch and hood mould
above. Central axial stack. A little of the timber frame is exposed inside;
one ground floor room has exposed chamfered joists. To the rear on the left
hand side is a large bar addition of c.1980, not of special interest.
