Monastic grange, now farmhouse. C14 and C15, altered C19. Rubble stone, tiled roof, stone and brick stacks, C15 octagonal stone louvre to former hall. Two-storey 6-window west front. C19 gabled stone porch with Tudor-arched opening and 4-panelled door to right of centre, C19 two-light ovolo-mullioned casement with hoodmould and single C15 Tudor-arched light to right; C15 single light, C19 ovolo-mullioned casement and blocked pointed doorway to centre; chamfered Tudor-arched planked door in C19 porch and 2-light pointed casement to left. First floor has five C15 two-light casements with Tudor-arched lights and one single-light C15 window. Fine octagonal louvre to left has pointed arched openings and conical roof. Right return has external stack, C19 mullioned casements. Rear has single chamfered casements and C17 two-storey wing with 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements and C19 two-storey gabled bay to east side. Rear of main range has planked double doors, 2-light C15 window and planked door to C19 verandah. Left return has two C19 casements to ground floor and one segmental-headed casement to first floor. Interior retains some C15 features, although partly remodelled in C19. Large Tudor-arched stone fireplace in north kitchen, formerly hall, is c4 metres wide, blocked chamfered pointed arched doorway on wall opposite. Centre living room has open fireplace with reset C17 carved wooden overmantel, from Holwell Manor, Dorset. South sitting room has large open fireplace with chamfered lintel on stone jambs, chamfered ceiling beams. Wing has grey marble fireplaces arched cupboard to right has keystone and imposts, C19 four-panelled doors. First floor said to retain arch-braced collar truss roof with curved windbracing at north end, south end of roof has cusped principals, both ends of house formerly open, south room has frieze with initials AM, possibly of Alfred Morrison, owner of Place and Fonthill Estate in C19.
