Details
PITTON AND FARLEY WHITE WAY, Pitton SU 23 SW (west side) 7/143 Barn north of Parsonage Farmhouse II
Barn. C16 and C18. Timber framed on flint sills, clad in weatherboarding. South end extended in English bond brickwork in C18. Tiled roof. Original building of 5 bays with central cartway and doors, now framed over. Extension probably early C18, of 2 narrower bays forming 4 stables with feed store and drop over, and loose box in first bay of barn. C19 lean-to store in brick added to front. Roof half hipped at ends. Trusses of barn have curved braces from jowled posts to cambered ties, queen struts and collars to upper purlin, and tie and struts to lower purlins. Purlins clasped. Wall framing has bressumer and corner braces.
