3/181 Barn to Windy Bank Farmhouse
II
Barn with some timber framing. Framing C.17 or earlier, stone cladding C.18. Altered. Coursed stone. Quoins. Stone slate roof with bitumen covering. Formerly two outshuts to courtyard. Now continuous the central carriage entrance having been filled in. Additions to other sides. Four trusses internally with extended king posts to ridge, and struts. Some wall plates are intact, but only two posts are apparent, one being encased the other free standing and with aisle tie to outshut. Very little longitudinal bracing is apparent.
