SHALBOURNE SHALBOURNE VILLAGE SU 36 SW (east side) 13/185 Shalbourne Manor Farmhouse (formerly listed as Manor Farmhouse) 22.8.66 II* Farmhouse, now house. C16, probably incorporating some earlier structure, remodelled after 1930. Stone and flint with brick lacings. Two-storey with attics and cellar. Seven bays. Entrance in 2-storey gabled porch in 4th bay; external stone Tudor arch with label and square stops. Shield in moulded and gadrooned panel over. Inner door 16-panelled and studded within moulded frame. 1930's moulded oak windows with leaded glazing within chamfered brick reveals. Large gables to left bay and over porch bay, all with parts of original moulded bargeboards and pendants. To right of porch, blocked cellar windows with ogee tracery. Stacks to gables with triple diagonal shafts, stack to right external, and further external stack to rear of 3rd bay probably serving original hall. C19 rear wing on left. Moulded stone doorcase of C15 in left gable. Interior: Stone Tudor arched fireplace to drawing room in 7th bay and chamfered ceiling beam. Library in 5th bay has heavy stud and panel partition to rear corridor from entrance hall. Stair not of special interest. Upper floors and roof not seen; said to have further stone fireplaces.
