Nos. 1 and 3 (Blackley House)

House and rear cottage, now in one occupation. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof with coped gables. Two storey home of classical proportions. Symmetrical facade has large projecting quoins, window surrounds and band. Centrally placed doorway has moulded architrave and pedimented head with console brackets and pulvinated frieze. Five bays of single pane sash windows to ground floor and first floor with no glazing bars. Square stone gutter brackets with hoodmould under. Right hand return wall has semi-circular headed doorway with six-light segmented fanlight. Above is staircase window of identical detail and proportions. To rear of facade is earlier much altered cottage with datestone over doorhead reading 'I.C.M. 1744', now internal. This rear cottage has moulded kneelers and quoins but all windows are much altered.
