Details

ASTLEY BREACH OAK LANE SP38NW (North-east side) 8/20 Breach Oak Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. C16/C17, with C19 alterations. Timber framed with brick infill, and some rebuilding in C19 brick to rear. Plain-tile roof. Left return side has large sandstone external stack with 2 star-shaped shafts of thin bricks; large central brick ridge stack has 2 rows of 2 arched panels. L-plan with large wing on left. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range. C19 ribbed door in angle. Open porch has plain-tile hipped roof. Similar door on right has brick segmental arch. Irregular fenestration. 3-light casements with horizontal glazing bars to left. First floor has an old 2-light lead-latticed casement. C19 and C20 two-light casements. Long wing has some of framing replaced with brick. C20 wood mullioned and transomed 4-light ground-floor window. First floor and attic have C20 three-light casements. C2 casements have leaded lights. Left return side and rear are largely rebuilt in brick. Interior not inspected. (VCH: Warwickshire: Vol VI, p17)
