SOWERBY BRIDGE PICKWOOD LANE SE 0622-0722 (west side) , Pickwood 16/155 Scar Pickwood House GV II House. C17, refronted mid-late C19. Coursed squared stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays with 3 gabled rear wings. Quoins. Openings have plain stone surrounds, windows with flat-faced mullions. On right of bay 2 a 6-panel door with overlight and blind window above. To its left and to outer bays a 2-light window with C20 glazing on each floor, Stack to left end and to ridge between bays 1 and 2. Rear: left bay: a flat-faced mullion window with 3-light double- chamfered mullion window above, both blocked. Central bay: a 4-light chamfered mullion window to 1st floor. Right bay: projects further with a gable stack and a door to each floor of inner return. Right return: a 3-light double-chamfered mullion window to ground floor on right. Interior: early C19 dog-leg staircase with wavy and straight balusters. Said to have King-post roof trusses. A gateway attached to rear right has a reused door lintel dated '1664 IMSM' and possibly reused from the earlier house. RCHM(E) Report (31465).
