Balustrade between River Medway and Esplanade. Erected 1914 re-using parts of William Cubitt's bridge of 1856 which was demolished to make way for the present road bridge (qv). Bulbous limestone balusters with coping and plinth. Large panelled plinth carries a lamp on tall fluted column (similar to those on the 1914 bridge). The pier end terminates with a pair of low panelled piers with fluted columns (but no lamps).
