IDLICOTE SP2844 8/158 Idlicote House, dovecote 02/09/52 approx. 200m. NW (Formerly listed as Pidgeoncote in grounds of Idlicote House)
GV II
Dovecote. C18 and earlier with later alterations and additions. Limestone laid to regular courses. Sandstone quoins. Pyramidal slated roof surmounted by ball finial and weather-vane behind embattled parapet. 3 stages. Wood door with 4-centred stone surrounds. Remodelled Gothic details including cruciform arrowslits, an ogee leaded window, and a stone mullioned and transomed window. Flat band to second stage. Ironstone plinth. Probably brought from Kenilworth Abbey/Castle and re-erected in Idlicote (VCH). (V.C.H.: Warwickshire, Vol.V, p.95; Buildings of England: Warwickshire, 1981, p.316).
