Details
1. 5272 CHARING STATION ROAD The Old House TQ 9549 22/49 17.9.52 II* 2. C14 core, though exterior is a C15 timber-framed and close-studded building with plaster infilling, the south-west front being C19 weatherboarded. The building leans slightly to one side (north-east). The first floor of the front facing the road oversails on a moulded bressumer and brackets. Similarly oversailing weather-boarded gable above containing an attic window. Bay on ground floor containing a window of 2 tiers of 7-lights with wooden mullions and transoms. Similar oriel window on first floor projecting on 3 brackets. One small 3-light window on each side of this. Curved braces to north-east elevation. Two storeys and attics. Three windows facing south-west. Two windows facing north-east. Tiled roof.
