TL 5416/5516 HATFIELD BROAD OAK HIGH STREET (north side)
6/102 'Homestead' and two cottages to east GV II Three cottages. C17 and early c19. Timber framing with red brick front. Roof is of clay pegtiles, hipped on east and gabled to west, where the gable wall is of black weatherboarding. Of 2 storeys and attics with one gabled dormer on front roof slope. Each cottage is separated on the front by a flat pilaster strip and the front has a storey string band, moulded brick cornice and plinth. The west unit has two C20 paired double hung sash windows with small panes over a carriage arch and similar paired double hung sash. The brickwork has been rebuilt. The centre unit has two 2-light casement windows with small panes and a blank recess over a wide segmental arched opening and a narrower similar opening with paired double hung sash windows and blank recess. Homestead to the east, has similar opening to centre unit but with 2 small paned casements and two C20 casements, over a segmental arched small pane window and 2 door openings. Internally timber framing with jowled posts. Included for group value.
