Large house. Main range mid C18, with early/mid C17 range to left. Main range - ashlar with rusticated ground floor and concrete tile roof to front, coursed and dressed rubble stone and slate roof to rear. 2 stone end stacks projecting in shallow bay across depth of house. Double range, "M" roof with parapet wall, and cornice to front. 2 storeys and cellar. 5 windows, glazing bar sashes, centre 3 breaking forward slightly. Ground floor windows have 2 rusticated voussoirs and dropped keystone with flat band marking change from rustication to ashlar. Central stone doorcase with pediment on consoles with dropped triple keystone and splayed architrave at base. Up 3 stone steps to door with half glazing and interlaced tracery. Rear facade has plain window surrounds. Centre bay has large round headed window with interlaced tracery and Gibbs surround door below. C17 range in brick and rubble stone with concrete tile and slate roof. Simple arched windows. At rear, hipped dormer with stone slate roof above, gabled porch with ball finial and stone architrave. Former home of Machen family whose memorial chapel is in Church of St. Mary the Virgin (q.v.).
