3/101 Box Farmhouse (formerly listed under 23.9.55 General)

Farmhouse. Medieval, but mainly C17 now. Rendered rubble, Broseley tile roof. Long, shallow block, with stair turret, back, and two storey porch front, left; large stack, back, just to right of porch through-way. Two storeys, 5-windowed, 3-light casements with transom, probably C19. Porch with pitched roof, 2-light casement, 4-panel door. Top casements well below eaves level. Back casements all recent. In stair projection one small fixed glass opening. Interior: extremely heavy chamfered beams; wall thickness extreme left front 1,300 m and end gate c. 1,000 m. Stair renewed, but tur- ret semi-circular plan within, square without. Some first floor doors plank one face, 4-panel the other face. Property traditionally associated with King John, and mentioned in reign of Ed III.
