Details

SO 60 NE AWRE FURNACE VALLEY, BLAKENEY 3/127 Nos 1, 2 and 3 - GV II Three dwellings, formerly mill. Early C19. Small square coursed sandstone, dressed flush quoins; rubble returns and back, glazed pantile roof. Long narrow block, outshut under catslide roof at gable end to road; set at right angles to former Malt Shovel Inn, at higher level (qv). Three storeys, 4- windowed to first and second floors, but 5-windowed ground floor, three doors, under windows to No 1 but centred to Nos 2 and 3; new doors and mostly new 2-light casements, but earlier casements to No 2. At back, in two storeys, 5-pairs 2-light original casements, leaded. On gable wall two 2-light case- ments and two blocked openings, all under segmental stone heads. This was a wire-making premises. An interesting reminder of the industrial importance of this area, grouped with the former Malt Shovel Inn (qv).
