7/48 Keeper's Cottage

II

House. Probably mid to late C17; timber-framed on stone plinth some coursed brick nogging, some wattle and daub infill, brick chimneys; diamond asbestos slate roof, tiled to extension. 2- room, 2-storey, with gable chimneys, with one bay extension on Left. 2 windows wide: framing 4 panels high, panels on right narrower than those on left. Main beams over rooms tenoned through studs and pegged. Planked front door off centre to right, with gabled timber porch, roof shingled. Later wooden casements to front; scalloped eaves board. Extension on left brick ground floor with planked door and beyond a timber casement window, under cambered brick arch: upper floor timber framed. At rear planted meads and sills for projecting 3-light oriel windows remain, now replaced with wooden casements flush with wall. Each original light had a diamond-set bar in centre. Heads remain to front for 2 similar windows at first floor. House entered only from one side.
