10/94 Boughton monument and railings,in churchyard, about 22m south of south east corner of south porch, Church of St. Ethelbert

Pedestal tomb and railed enclosure: early C19; ashlar stone and wrought iron. Square railed enclosure on weathered, smooth cap to sill wall. Cap deep, with inscriptions on each external face, furrowed ashlar below exposed on two sides by slope of ground. Larger square corner balusters to railing with urn tops, intermediate bars have tapered tops. Within enclosure a square pedestal tomb, small in plan, plain sides with slightly recessed corners, on a moulded base. Top wide projection, flat gable with uncarved acroterion at each corner, all running back as ridges to centre. Commemorates Joseph Boughton, died 1801, with later inscriptions, on plinth to enclosure; pedestal records Joseph Boughton of Broadoak, and his younger son, as if erected for latter.
