TIDENHAM A48 ST 49 NE (west side) Wibdon Farmhouse 10/206 22.6.83 - II Farmhouse. C17 and later. Rendered rubble, but exposed on back walls, Welsh slate roofs. T-plan, with original wing gable to road and cross-wing with hipped ends centrally projecting for stair turret left, two rubble stacks at eaves. Later wing right masking original entrance, one rendered stack near right-hand gable, and back slopes of roof in pantiles. Elevation to road, gable 3-storeys, 3-light over 4- light C19 casements, and 3-light C20 casement at ground floor, all with smooth dressed surrounds in rough plastering; low wing with two storeys, 3-windowed various casements, entrance far left C19 panelled door, part glazed in heavy chamfered frame under 'picturesque' lightweight wood porch with hipped slate roof and second C19 plank door in chamfered 4-centred arch stone surround under lightweight gabled porch, immediately to left of stack. Rear elevation to older wing includes old ground floor 4-light wood C19 casement in C17 moulded stone surround. Interior includes, back room left, C17 oak panelling probably brought from elsewhere and wide stone fireplace with very flat 4-centred arch lintol and stopped mouldings to cheeks; in corresponding front room is moulded stone overmantel. Cellar under part. Stair- case with square newels, formed spherical terminals, heavy turned balusters and moulded handrail, probably C17. Two internal doorcases with flat pointed heads, one door, not in-situ, remains. At time of survey, May 1983, older wing generally in need of maintenance.
