5/113 The Plough Public House
II
Public House, mid C16. 1½ storeys and attics; 5 windows. Timber-framed and rendered. Roof hipped at east service end; partly thatched, partly plaintiled. Gabled plaintiled casement dormer. Axial and gable chimneys of red brick added c.1600; the parlour gable chimney has the base of 2 octagonal flues (head rebuilt). C19 and C20 small-pane casements and boarded entrance door. Originally a 3-cell cross-passage entry house with twin doorways into 2 service rooms from 2-bay ground floor hall. The parlour block rebuilt C18. Some scribed diaper-pattern plaster panels in first floor walls, probably original C16 work.
