Detached house. 1856.Developed by Henry Rydon and designed by Charles Hambridge. Brick covered with stucco, roof of artificial slate. Three storeys over basement, four-window range; the principal front is of two-window range, with an entrance wing set back to the left. Steps up to flat-arched entrance with cornice and overlight, the entrance and the adjacent ground-floor window flanked by Ionic pilasters supporting panelled frieze and cornice; the ground floor of the principal front decorated with banded rustication and having two flat-arched windows with moulded reveals; storey band; first-floor window to principal front flat-arched with moulded stucco architraves, cornice, and key pattern to apron; band of palmette ornament inset above the first-floor windows; the first floor of the entrance wing has two small flat-arched windows, and is probably an addition; second-floor windows only to sides, below eaves; dentil eaves cornice; hipped roof with side stacks. This house matches no 51 Highbury New Park (q.v.). (London Journal: T.F.M.Hinchcliffe: 'Highbury New Park. A nineteenth-century middle-class suburb': London: 1981-: 29-44).
