House. c1840. Render with limestone dressings, rubble basement, slate roof, curved and hipped to the right. Single-depth plan. Gothick style fenestration. Single storey and basement; 3-window range. Overhanging eaves, a curved right-hand end has a 2-centred arched doorway with sunken spandrels and drip mould, and lattice-panelled door. Semicircular-arched windows with drip moulds to 3/6-pane horned sashes with interlacing heads. Segmental-arched basement opening has Pennant dressings and a 2-leaf door. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached red rubble wall continues the curve of the house for approx 10m from the N end with a 2-centred arched brick doorway. Beside the doorway is an octagonal Pennant gate base, presumably from the lodge's original role controlling the entrance to the rear of The Polygon (qv).
