House Mid C18. Coursed squared gritstone and ashlar, purple slate roof with 9 eaves courses of stone slates. 2 storeys, 2 bays, with single-storey service building to left. Rusticated quoins. Central C20 board door with iron hinges, rusticated quoins to jambs and deep rusticated voussoirs to lintel. Flanking 12-pane casements in sawn-stone surrounds, the sills lowered and breaking the former continuous sill band. First floor: two 8- pane casements in unaltered stone surrounds; projecting sill band. Shaped kneelers, gable coping, banded end stacks. Single-storey bay to left: central door, masked by C20 conservatory (not of special interest), shaped kneeler and gable coping with base of end stack, left. An interesting facade which shows the original style of mid-late C18 small farmhouses in the area. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report Number 143 (1975).
