House. Late C17 or early C18 with later alterations and
additions. Coursed squared limestone rubble with traces of old
limewash; some brick patching. Stone slate roof; rebuilt brick
left- and right-end stacks; pair of ashlar flues with moulded
top with additional brick flue on ridge at right end of main
range. Late C17/early C18 four-window range with late C18/C19
two-window addition to right.
2 storeys and attic; 6-window range. Four C20 6/6-pane sashes
under exposed timber lintels to first floor left, two to far
left in former openings now partially blocked with brick; to
first floor right two 2-light C19 timber casements. Ground
floor has one 2/2- 2/2- 2/2-pane triple sash with timber
mullions to far left; C19 canted bay to centre right has one
3/3-pane sash in each of 3 faces, stone slate roof and stone
base. Two C19 two-light timber casements to ground floor
right. Ground floor has C19/C20 single-storey porch extension
with stone slate roof, gable facing; one 4-pane fixed window
to front, 4-panel door to left side. 4 hipped dormers with C19
and C20 two-light timber and iron casements. Flush quoins to
left angle and former right angle at junction with later
addition. Late C17 or C18 gabled wing to rear left; catslide
roof to rear right continues behind later addition and sweeps
down to single storey.
INTERIOR: mid C19 closed string stick baluster staircase to
first floor, probably C20 to second floor. Ground floor centre
front room has large fireplace opening with exposed timber
lintel and stone cheeks with chamfers; 3 small section timber
beams with small chamfers and run-out stops. Beams elsewhere
rough and unchamfered. Original 5-bay roof structure to main
range has purlins morticed into principals, apex not visible;
structure has undergone C20 alterations.
